SDI meeting December 2013This blog post shared information about an SDI meeting where organizations, including WIEGO, came together "to share ideas about how to address people’s needs with strategies that target BOTH shelter and livelihoods.... Close to a billion people – one in seven of the world’s population – live in informal settlements in the towns and cities of the global South, where they lack both secure livelihoods with adequate incomes, and secure housing with adequate basic services."

Shack/Slum Dwellers International is an organization, "a network of community-based organizations of the urban poor in 33 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America." SDI regularly posts to its blog on related issues.
