Leila is a researcher and popular educator based in Cape Town, South Africa. She works as part of WIEGO’s Organization and Representation Programme (ORP) to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of worker education across WIEGO’s network. Previously, she worked with the WoMin African Alliance as its Popular Education Coordinator, and collaborated on the development of an 18-month course for women leaders resisting extractivism across six African countries. She also worked at the International Labour Research and Information Group (ILRIG), supporting feminist, worker, and community-based formations in Southern Africa.
Leila holds a BSocSci in Politics and Economic History and an LLB from the University of Cape Town, as well as an LLM in Comparative Law, Economics, and Finance from the International University College of Turin.
