This is WIEGO’s Annual Report for April 2011 to March 2012, covering the organization’s activities across its five core programmes (Organization & Representation, Statistics, Global Trade, Social Protection, and Urban Policies) and two global projects (Inclusive Cities and Women’s Economic Empowerment). Key highlights include the adoption of ILO Convention C189 on Decent Work for Domestic Workers, a constitutional court victory for waste pickers in Colombia, expansion of membership to 172 members in 42 countries, and the launch of a redesigned website.
WIEGO is at the forefront of developing statistics and research to help audiences understand the informal economy. Our library includes over two decades-worth of informal economy research, policy analysis, statistics and documentation of organizing efforts.
