Join workers in the final of a three-part series toward the International Labour Conference (ILC) as they discuss strategies for defending gender equality across the ILC.

The discussion on May 21 will focus on the intersections between three key discussions at this year’s Conference: gender equality at work, decent work in the platform economy, and inclusive social dialogue. These are separate discussions at the ILC – our panellists will explore how they are linked.

With growing political backlash against gender rights globally, the discussion on gender could be sidelined or treated as secondary to other labour market debates. This webinar will highlight why gender equality cannot be separated from broader discussions about the future of work, worker voice and labour rights.

Bringing together speakers from International Trade Union Confederation, IT for Change, International Domestic Workers Federation and StreetNet International, the webinar will explore:

  • Strategies for engaging governments, labour ministries and worker representatives, including how to ensure that progressive gender equality concerns are meaningfully reflected within national positions on gender equality and non-discrimination at work, and national positions on platform employment and social dialogue.
  • How to support coordinated advocacy and alliance-building that keeps gender equality and inclusive labour governance firmly on the agenda nationally and internationally.

Panellists include:

  • Giulia Massobrio, Coordinator, Trade Union Development Cooperation Network, Equality Department, ITUC
  • StreetNet International
  • International Domestic Workers Federation
  • Jocelyne Dubois, Director, International Department, Canadian Labour Congress
  • Sadhana Sanjay, Research Lead, IT for Change

Moderator:

  • Salonie Hiriyur (WIEGO)
