Building Collective Power

What is Building Collective Power?Building collective power is the process of uniting and mobilizing organizations, communities and stakeholders to fight for systemic change and social justice.

It underpins a movement’s ability to challenge systemic injustice, as it relies on fostering a sense of shared purpose, strengthening solidarity, and a coordinated approach to advocacy and action. Building collective power is the combined efforts, resources and connections of workers, organizations and their wider networks.

How is Building Collective Power Important for Workers in Informal Employment?

Workers in informal employment need to build collective power to fuel their long-term fight for a just world of work.

The systemic injustices that workers in informal employment face can only be dismantled with sustained, coordinated efforts and a strong vision for a different world.

This vision is critical to break the cycle of poverty, and to strive for better working conditions and social justice – where workers in informal employment are recognized as people who have found a way of working and surviving in an exclusionary system.
