This Friday, May 16, is the final in our series of webinars aimed at fostering dialogue and solidarity as a united workers’ movement ahead of the International Labour Conference (ILC). This year’s conference includes the first session of a two-year standard-setting discussion on decent work in the platform economy. This discussion is particularly important as it could eventually result in an international labour standard on platform employment.

In the upcoming webinar, our panelists will share research and grounded reflections on how digital labour platforms are impacting domestic workers and other sectors of the informal economy. By exploring recent data, co-developed research and theoretical reflections, we will share practical considerations for promoting decent work in the platform economy, and showcase how platform workers are organizing.

Speakers include:

  • Carmen Roca, Lima Focal Cities Coordinator, WIEGO
  • Sonia George, National Vice President of the Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) and member of the IDWF Executive Committee (moderator)
  • Monica Tepfer, Legal Officer & Legal Project Coordinator, ITUC
