HomeNet Thailand and WIEGO are hosting a policy dialogue ahead of Bangkok Climate Week that brings together worker organizations, policymakers, researchers, civil society and other stakeholders to connect workers’ lived experiences with HomeNet Thailand and WIEGO’s research evidence on the impacts of heat and air pollution on Bangkok’s informal economy. The dialogue will consider how pilot interventions can be scaled and adapted to reach workers in informal employment, and seek practical ways to achieve climate-resilient, gender-responsive and age-sensitive policies.
The dialogue will:
- Share evidence on climate impacts and pilot interventions for workers in informal employment in Bangkok.
- Elevate worker voices and solutions, including how impacts differ by sector, gender and age.
- Build synergies among stakeholders to advance coordinated policy responses.
- Explore pathways for action that better reach workers and draw on worker organizations’ knowledge and networks.
- Agree on next steps to translate evidence and worker-led solutions into action
The dialogue will include perspectives from representatives from HomeNet Thailand, WIEGO, HERA, Chulalongkorn University, the Department of Disease Control, the World Bank, and the Society and Health Institute.
