At WIEGO, we are committed to the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct. We want to ensure that any serious concerns about wrongdoing within our organisation can be raised safely and addressed appropriately. This policy and process explain how to report a whistleblowing concern and how it will be handled.

If you believe that wrongdoing, misconduct, or unethical behaviour has occurred in connection with any aspect of WIEGO’s work, we encourage you to share your concern as soon as possible. All reports are treated confidentially, and individuals who raise concerns are protected from retaliation.

What Is Whistleblowing?

Whistleblowing is the disclosure of serious concerns about wrongdoing that could harm WIEGO, its team members, partners, or the people and communities we work with. This may include criminal activity, misuse of charitable funds, breaches of legal obligations, risks to health and safety, environmental harm, or efforts to conceal any such wrongdoing. These concerns go beyond personal grievances and relate to issues that affect the wider organisation.

How WIEGO Handles a Whistleblowing Disclosure

When a concern is raised, WIEGO ensures it is handled with care, confidentiality, and impartiality. After acknowledging receipt by the WIEGO Board Ombudsperson, the concern is reviewed to determine whether a formal investigation is needed. If so, an internal or external impartial investigator will review the information, gather relevant evidence, and present findings to the WIEGO Board. Corrective actions are taken where required, and protection is provided for anyone who reports a concern in good faith. Anonymous disclosures are also considered, though they may limit follow-up.

If you wish to raise a concern, you are welcome to write to whistleblowing@wiego.org. Your message will be handled sensitively and in confidence, and we encourage you to share as much information as you feel comfortable providing so that we can respond appropriately.
