Forging & Advancing our Shared Priorities for Women Workers in the Platform Economy: Towards the ILC 2026

  • March 9, 20261:00pm - 2:30pm United Kingdom (GMT), UTC
  • Online

Join the first in a series of three webinars that aim to discuss shared priorities towards the ILC standard-setting discussion on decent work in the platform economy.

At this year’s International Labour Conference, employers, member states and workers will debate the adoption of a new labour standard to promote decent work in the platform economy. To fairly and meaningfully represent workers, and women workers in particular, WIEGO and SCIS are hosting this webinar on March 9 at 13:00 GMT to critically reflect on our shared priorities, strategies, and goals.

As platform work grows across sectors and borders, the need for robust national and international regulation has become urgent. Effective frameworks must guarantee core labour rights, establish employer responsibility, and ensure transparency and accountability in algorithmic management – often AI-powered programmes used by gig platforms to manage functions like hiring, task assignment and scheduling.

Without coordinated regulatory action, the platform model risks deepening inequality and eroding hard-won labour protections.

Join our expert panel featuring prominent researchers, advocates and worker leaders at this important time to build consensus and amplify workers’ demands at the ILC and beyond in local, national, and international spaces.
