Policy Responses to the Employment Effects of COVID-19 in the Global South: What Have We Learnt So Far?

The World Bank in collaboration with  UNU-WIDER , the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) and the Network on Jobs and Development will host a virtual conference focused on 'Better Jobs for Development'  from September 1 – September 4, 2020. This is following the success of the 2016, 2018 and 2019 Jobs and Development Conferences which were held in Washington DC and Bogotá.

The four-day conference is expected to attract economists from around the globe and will feature keynote speeches, a policy panel, and about 90 paper presentations. The event will focus on policy-relevant research, applicable to identifying solutions to jobs challenges in low and middle income countries.

On Day 2 of the conference, WIEGOs International Coordinator Emeritus and Senior Advisor, Marty Chen will be participate in a policy panel on the employment effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Global South.
