The Informal Sector and Informal Employment in Bangladesh

This report contains the findings of the 2010 labour force survey and the related suvey of informal sector enterprises. The surveys were carried out by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics with the technical assistance of with the Asian Development Bank.

The topics on which data are reported include formal and informal employment, characteristics of informal sector enterprises and the contribution of the informal sector to gross domestic production.

Recommendations are also included for institutionalizing data on informal employemnt and the informal sector as part of regular statistics collected by the national statistical bureau.
