Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing (WIEGO) is a global network focused on securing livelihoods for the working poor, especially women, in the informal economy. WIEGO creates change by building capacity among informal worker organizations, expanding the knowledge base about the informal economy, and influencing local, national and international policies.
WIEGO is seeking a highly organized, professional Executive Assistant to support our Washington, DC-based International Coordinator (Executive Director). The Executive Assistant will be responsible for providing high level administrative support, including calendar management, meeting support, communications support and project support. The post-holder will also have executive responsibilities related to the organization’s governance. The Executive Assistant will play a key role in supporting the International Coordinator to ensure the effective running of the organization.
The Executive Assistant will work from home. Previous experience providing high-level, remote executive support is required. The successful candidate will need access to their own computer equipment and a strong Internet connection. The position requires applicants to be based in the same time zone as Washington, DC (UTC/GMT-4). We expect this to be a full-time position.
Salary is dependent on experience, location and role profile, to be discussed with the successful candidate.
Knowledge of dynamic organizational environments: The Executive Assistant will have the high level of attention to detail required for an international organization operating in a fast-moving environment. The ability to self-motivate and work independently is a must, as is an appreciation of the challenges of remote global work. The Executive Assistant will be able to prioritize among competing demands and will be able to track and work to multiple deadlines. Familiarity with the international development field is an asset.
Quality communication: The Executive Assistant will be an excellent communicator in English, both oral and written. This includes proficiency in spelling, grammar and punctuation. The Executive Assistant will be able to synthesize a large amount of information efficiently and track communication across multiple channels. A second language is an asset.
Discretion and teamwork: The Executive Assistant will need to exhibit discretion and sensitivity regarding confidential information. S/he will need excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse WIEGO team members from different backgrounds and regions.
Technology: The Executive Assistant will be highly proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and Zoom at minimum, and willing and able to learn new technologies.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum five to seven years’ experience providing high level executive support to senior management, including calendar management and email inbox management
- Experience providing governance/executive level support, including preparation of Board papers, arranging meetings, recording of minutes, etc.
Time Frame: 3-month initial contract, extendable to one year subject to satisfactory performance and thereafter renewable by mutual agreement on a yearly basis.
