Global General Assembly of Working Poor Women

The common purpose of all WIEGO general meetings has been to share experiences and knowledge, set priorities and frame issues, and review WIEGO’s past activities and future plans. Another purpose has been to expand and strengthen the WIEGO network, and each general assembly is combined with public events that WIEGO co-presents with local partners.

Since it was founded in 1997, WIEGO has held five general meetings:

  • Ottawa, Canada (April 1999)
  • Cambridge, USA (May 2000)
  • Ahmedabad, India (January 2002)
  • Durban, South Africa (April 2006)
  • Belo Horizonte, Brazil (April 2010) - Read the report or visit the blog.

WIEGO's General Assembly is now held every four years. For more information, visit the WIEGO General Assemblies microsite.
