LB4This brief compares the Civil Law system ( prevalent in Francophone African countries)  and the Common Law system ( prevalent in Anglophone African countries) to explore how they differ, from the perspective of street vendors. The brief first describes  the composition of the two legal systems, with the objective of explaining  and comparing how each legal system either gives rights, or denies rights,  to street vendors.  Thereafter it gives a broad overview of  the legal recourses that are available to street vendors to enforce their rights under each system.
