Economic Crises and Women’s Work: Exploring Progressive Strategies in a Rapidly Changing Global Environment

This report examines women's employment and decent work in the context of the ongoing global financial and economic crisis.  More specifically it is on the implications of the current crisis for women workers and how labour markets have responded.  A focus of the analysis is informal employment and in particular
self-employment. The report analyzes response strategies to the crisis and makes recommendations to improve women's employment and employment conditions in the areas of macroeconomic strategies, active labour market policies, social protection measures, measures to encourage the viability of self-employment and reducing the burden of unpaid work.
