The panel “Innovative approaches for more inclusive social protection of informal workers” took place at the European Development Days on 8 June 2017, in Brussels. The event was an outcome of a workshop carried out in Kenya last year on the extension of social protection to informal workers in Africa and India.

The objective of the workshop was to present recommendations to policymakers, donors, and civil society organizations on how to build inclusive social protection for informal workers. The panel included a presentation from Laura Alfers, WIEGO’s director of social protection programme. Other key discussions were presented by the Research Network Support Facility, the European Union, and the International Labour Organization.
